The museum is named after the Silver River which flows through the park. The museum and the centre is operated by Marion County Public School and Florida Park Service. It has been operational since 1991 and besides the museum, there is a lunch pavilion, research library, and a one-room school house. When you visit the museum you can see exhibits depicting the history of Florida, fossils, bones, and animal specimen in addition to the historical artifacts. The outskirts are a hidden gem. You can take a boat ride in the river and camp, for you won’t find many people around. You will have a knowledgeable experience in the museum and peace in the park.
