Captain Memos Pirate Cruise Reviews & Ratings
My wife and I generally abhor "touristy" things, but my wife also is cherubic in her preferences; so a giant pirate ship was irresistible. We booked over the phone and that process was very polite and smooth. Boarding was chaotic, but that's more a nature of Clearwater than anything else. Once the ship got going, I was immediately impressed by the quietness and smoothness of the engine(s) and stability of the ship. The crew was wonderful, both in keeping we adults adequately supplied with our favorite (limitless) libations and in entertaining all of the kids on the boat. The sound system was excellent (I peeked at the equipment and it was all very good) and well tuned. We spent much of our time near a speaker and were not uncomfortable. The route was pleasurable, music great, beer/wine plentiful, and staff excellent. A+
We go every time we visit Clearwater and we love it!!! My daughter has been going since she was 3 and is now six and still loves it. In addition to the unlimited beer and wine there is now unlimited champagne!!! Buy a wine glass, it's bigger so less going to get refills. And the kids will get wet, not soaked, when they have their water gun fight.
We did the 10am trip. It's 2 hours long. They tell you to arrive an hour before so you have time to park. With doing the early one it was empty that early down there. They give you a name tag with your name & state on it. Better to purchase tickets online because it can fill up fast. The pirates had many activities for the kids to do including water pistol fight, dance party, treasure hunt, face painting, story telling, conga line, musical chairs & shoot of cannons (very LOUD). All kids are welcome into the Pirate Crew at the end with a certificate. There are drinks & snacks for purchase including alcohol. We saw 1 dolphin. The pirates were great with the kids. Yo Ho Ho!
Outstanding afternoon. The crew was great. My two grandkids had a blast. The beer and wines were cold and plentiful. I will definitely have a return cruise!!
Definitely a cool ride for the younger kids with the games and little giveaways, or a little romance op for couples at sunset. Main drawback: seating was at a premium. Stand up and you'll lose your spot. Might have been a more comfortable experience with fewer people crowding the decks and the opportunity for everyone to see from the ship's bow at some point during the excursion. They DID offer very cool frames with pics they snap before boarding at a half decent price, as well as "free" drinks (rolled into the ticket price already, I'm sure).
