The Lusitania Monument and Graveyard is one of the top attractions in Cobh. On May 7th, 1915, Cunard Liner the Lusitania sank which resulted in deaths of 1,198 of the 1,959 people aboard. After this, many victims were brought to Cobh and many were interred in the Old Church Graveyard which is located right outside the Cobh town. Today, Cobh has a monument at the Casement Square in the town center that was designed by Jerome O'Connor. The monument depicts two fishermen who joined the rescue efforts of this ill-fated liner.
