In 1917, Lúcia de Jesus dos Santos and her cousins claim to have witnessed multiple visions of the Virgin Mary near Fátima, Portugal. They were apparently told three secrets, two of which apparently foretold the coming of the Second World War and the attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II. Lucia went on to become a Carmelite nun, and three years after her death in 2005, Pope Benedict XVI announced the commencement of her canonization process. There is a statue of her, surrounded by flowers, outside the memorial building. Inside, you’ll find the house where she lived for more than 50 years of her life. The small museum contains artefacts from her life, gifts she received from the Pope, her letters, and religious items. There’s also a video about her life.
