Germany’s oldest town hall, the Altes Rathaus can be admired from across the street as well. If you want a tour of the interiors, you’ll have to book a tour in advance. Reminiscent of the 14th century, the Altes Rathaus is famous for its bell tower; the bell is sounded off every three hours from 9 am to 6 pm. If you’re not signing up for the tour, stroll across to the southern side of the Rathaus and see the Nine Good Heroes that are carved along the wall. Following this trend, some 120 statues of the heroes of Cologne, as they were referred to, were erected outside the town hall.

Altes Rathaus, Cologne Reviews - Write a Review
Very nice building and historical place! Lots of weddings and happy people!
I really should have gone inside, but the building is just as impressive simply looking at the outside. I love all the little statues that cover the tower.
German customs are very interesting and the wedding parties we saw going to the city hall were entertaining. The architecture of the building also tells a story or rebellious expression.
Good place to visit as you can see the city hall which is quite old and has a good architectural value.
Amazing building from the outside, but I was disappointed that they only allowed you on the first floor Rich really didn't show you much of the building. Perhaps they just weren't showing the whole building at that time but not speaking German it was difficult for me survey the situation
