The tourist who comes upon this temple, and unmoved by ut's unimpressive exterior , and decides to not go in will miss out on something mindblowing. If you Google pictures of this temple, the results will always return images of its interior. The interior is magical. It's possible there is not a single space of its wall and ceiling that has not been heavily decorated with evocative statues, colorful murals, or intricate carvings. There sheer level of detail they manage to pack in is mindboggling. Among Buddhists on the island, it is one of the most revered places of worship. Built in the 1870s it is also one of the oldest Buddhist temples in the city.

A very peaceful place. The statues of Lord Buddha here are in a class unto themselves. Each one is intricately carved and very lifelike capturing various phases of Buddha's life. It's also a good place to meditate and connect with your inner self. You can visit anytime if the day but after 10 am and before 5 PM the place looks deserted...And they turn off the lights so you won't be able to see some of the statues clearly
The feeling once you are inside is of awe and wonder. How beautiful but simple architecture. The reclining Buddha is a site to behold. As we spent our time immersed in the magnificence, we prayed to Him. The feeling is like no other.
Ashokaramaya Buddhist Temple in Kirulapone (Colombo 05) is one of the most unassuming temples you will come across in Sri Lanka. Not to be confused with the Ashokaramaya in Kalutara. This Colombo temple is an entirely different world of color and stories. The exterior in contrast is rather dull and normal looking; and as a result this temple is not very well known. However, recently with its paintings being redone. The temple has had an increase in the level of fame.
Very beautiful temple, very clean. Buddhas are much nice that in some other temples, more detailed in the sculptures. Well worth a visit
Holy in the middle of the concrete jungle
