If there's one thing you'll wish for when visiting this magnificent building built in 1844, it is that somehow it could be restored to its former glory. Look at that beautiful red brick facade painted with white stripes. Close your eyes, use your imagination, and you can almost SEE how grand it must have been when bustling with British and Dutch merchants and tea planters here to pick half a year's worth of groceries and luxuries. Now that grand department store is no more. All you'll find here is a sad little convenience store. In memory of the past greatness, you might as well buy something. Take a picture, then move on.
