About Old Dutch Hospital, Colombo

As the name suggests, a former hospital of the Dutch, this colonial era complex is now rejuvenated to become a city centre of Colombo. Centrepiece of the newly vibrant Fort, this construction dates back to the early 1600s. The unyielding architecture astonishes the on-lookers and is an ideal hang out in the evenings.

Lavishly restored, it is home to shops, cafes and restaurants run by some of Colombo’s best operators. Enjoy a pause for a cold drink amid the incredibly thick columns of its arcades.

  • Very beautiful in the evening to spend time with your family. Great courtyard to sit and enjoy. Can be crowded in evening and weekends. There are restaurants, shops and bars. Evening time is a best time to visit. Best place for local and foreign tourist to visit. Enough parking space. Christmas season there are so many beautiful Christmas decorations all over the place.

  • A nice place for a dine out. Evenings would be precious with delicious meals and beer while enjoying live music play. Cool winds crossover the premises during the evening making it more interesting. Generally, it is heavily crowded and it seems every foreigner would love to visit the place. During christmas season it becomes more interactive than ever

  • Not too much shopping in the area. Spa Ceylon is located there, however. Plus an alleyway full of paintings and artists. Many restaurants located there including Black Pepper and Ministry of Crab that are pretty busy and well frequented by foreigners and the upper class Sri Lankans. Lively, lovely area overall if you want a night out on the town. Plus there were different bands performing around the area near the restaurants.

  • One of the best place for a dine out in colombo. Evenings are more colourful than the day time. Good restaurants with really delicious foods also many pubs for a chilling beer. Nice place for photo shoots also can enjoy live music in the evenings have good boutique hotels also good shops for a quick shopping

  • Very nice location great courtyard to sit and enjoy the ambience while sipping on some local beer and trying some of the seafood and fresh ocean produce the country is famous for.. you can download.
