07/21/2017 Reservations was quick and easy. Staff was so very helpful with helmets for the kids 13 & 11 yrs. Old (1st time) 2 adults. Short paperwork for safety, Liz & partner was very attentive on the ride, always checking back. Daughter(11) loved Thunder and was not scared for to long, what a great horse! I had Duke and he really likes to eat on the trail, if you have had elbow surgery or bad elbows you don't want Duke. Trapper was really calm as well, Red was not wanting to go for a ride I think, he had the stopping and standing moments. But ride was beautiful, can't wait to go again! Thank you Academy Riding Stables for our first time great experience 😊
This was a bit of a spontaneous stop on our visit to the springs area. Typical horse riding experience, but with the advantage of beautiful surroundings, etc. We took the one hour ride and it was great. Horses were typical well broken trail riders with the strong desire to eat grass and get the heck back to base camp. Park is spotless. I'd recommend. If more of a country western theme, or some if they played country western music, I'd give it 5 stars! lol
Jericho is an awesome trail guide. It is clear that the stables really take care of their horses and their customers. A truly fantastic experience all around!
During our vacation with friends we decided to do horseback riding. This was the first time either of my kids had ridden a horse. The guides did a great job telling you what to expect. The tour through Garden of the Gods was fun, nice and slow, good for first time riders. The guides were extremely helpful, friendly and made the tour a lot of fun. I didn't even think of tipping them until it was mentioned at the end of the tour but had not brought along any cash.
The staff there were all very friendly and welcoming. The group we rode with was very large but we had three guides with us who did a great job communicating with us and each other. I liked how the rules were put in place on how to work with your horse for those with little or no experience. Children 8 to 12 and adolescents up to 17 were required to use a helmet while on the trail ride. Safety first was a focus. The horses and equipment were in good shape and were matched to riders abilities, size and weight, which led me to believe that these horses were a top priority. The young people who were our wranglers were good at their jobs. The ride into the Garden of the Gods was picturesque! My grandchildren, who are out of state, and I will make this a yearly adventure!
