Cheyenne Mountain State Park Reviews & Ratings
Beautiful spot, there are only a few walk in sites, but they are secluded and private. The facilities are extremely nice and clean, but if you are looking for a wilderness experience, this is not it. The highway noise is constant, and you are right near a military base, so there's air traffic and you hear (very loudly) taps at 10pm, and reveille at 630am. Fun experience for our road trip, but wouldn't plan to stay there personally.
Attended a wedding there several years ago. It was absolutely lovely and within walking distance from home! When camping, as a Colorado native, I do prefer somewhere a little more primitive. Perfect for out of town guests.
This was one of the best campgrounds I’ve ever stayed in! We stayed in the Swift Puma Walk-In Campground. The bushes surrounding the sites offered a lot of privacy. The campground offers a view of Cheyenne Mountain as well as overlooking Colorado Springs. The morning Reveille at Fort Carson will hell you start your morning. The facilities are modern and kept clean. I will return next time I am in the area!
I want to move and stay there... I felt so free and at one with nature.. a feeling I've never experienced as strongly as I felt as I ascended up the mountain side on the boulder run trail. Even got to see some wild coyotes up close! The place feels majestic!
Nicest state park campground I've ever experienced (in any state - and we've camped in state parks in 48 states!). They're attention to detail is impressive. All level paved spots with full RV hookups. Camp ground hosts we're an endearing retired couple.
