Established in 1878, the museum has expanded its focus from European and American art in the early modern period to include contemporary art and photography. The pride of the museum is its permanent exhibitions - collections by local artists such as Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson, Elijah Pierce, and George Bellows. Of broader interest are the Cubist paintings by Picasso and Juan Gris. Other masterworks include those by Cézanne, Boucher, Ingres, Degas, Matisse, Monet, Edward Hopper, and Norman Rockwell. The museum's aesthetic is decidedly unusual compared to most other modern and contemporary art museum. Art works are arranged flush to and around each other on the walls, instead of being spaced apart. Outside the museum is a sculpture gallery and a rock garden that you can look down on from the cafe.

Columbus Museum Of Art Reviews & Ratings
The Columbus Art Museum is a fantastic use of time. Not only is admission free on Sunday but there is an amazing cafe inside with a beautiful garden patio to eat at. The food is put together by culinary students and it is amazing! You can't go wrong by visiting here.
I took my 6&7 year olds after school. Parking in the 5$ lot is the only choice, don't waste your time looking elsewhere. Greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Paid $18 for me and $9 a piece for my kids. Closes at 5pm and it's 3:10. Never been there before. Was told go in your first door on the left "That will be a good place to start"; walk right into a private function. Went back to the desk and said that room was close. She said, "yes it's closed" , and turned back to her conversation. I said, "I'm sorry, I've never been here before I don't know where to go. She then pointed to another door. My kids stopping at the first to creation tables they saw, they loved it. After that we went into the wonder room. It was like for kids, great they loved it. Question, Why didn't the receptionist that charged me $36, know what rooms were open or closed? Or Why didn't she direct me and my kids to the Wonder Room, when I had clearly stated that we have never been there before? Making common sense decisions for others while doing your service job is 👌, most places. I should have done my research about the hours. Got to come back Sun free or 5-9 Thursday. Closed at 5 every other day. I ended up buying a family pass for $100, I had to. They did let me put my $36 in tickets to go towards the pass. So thank you for that.
I like this museum a lot. I wish it was bigger and cheaper during the week, but I always have such a nice time here. The gift shop is cute. The exhibitions they get are always interesting; my favorite was the 2012 puppet exhibition. I really miss being a ccad student so I could go here whenever. The remodel is so nice and was worth the wait.
I absolutely enjoyed my visit here. I came here and left so dazzled at all the art prices. They had everything from Cubism, American, European, West African, abstract, and all else. I loved that each section had its own room for viewing. I also like that they had small interactive activities in most of the room. Overall would definitely recommend!
