Franklin Park Conservatory - Review

This historic attraction, built in 1895, is probably the most beautiful place in the city. It's amazing just how much floral variety they've managed to stuff in here.

  • There are 400 species of plants, most of which can be found in recreated biomes from around the planet - Himalayan, Rainforest, Tropical, and Pacific Islands. These areas are presented complete with rock and water bodies through which immaculately kept pathways course.
  • There are 43 different species in the Palm House.
  • The conifer and ornamental grass garden is elegantly landscaped.
  • The Grand Mallway bursts with flowers, and the even prettier Bride Gardens is a popular place for weddings.
  • In spring, the daylily garden shows off 850 varieties of the flower.
  • The Garden Campus combines classes in cooking and herb-rearing.
  • In summer, local glass artists put on a fascinating daily glass blowing demonstration.

And all of this doesn't even include the special and temporary exhibitions the gardens organise from time to time. The whole experience is nothing short of magical.

Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus City Reviews

  • This may just be the most beautiful park in the Columbus metro area. It’s truly a piece of serenity and calm in the middle of bustling city. There’s an amazing variety of trees and flowers. I even gathered some really good ideas for my own home. The park is large and takes a while to see everything. The park is free to walk around and explore however the conservatory itself does cost money to enter but in my opinion is well worth the $18.00 for general admission $15.00 for seniors $11.00 for children. There is a new children’s area that was just recently completed and opened. The area looks amazing and should be a lot of fun for the kids. The park has plenty of parking and is also on the bus line. The security is always out in force riding around on their golf carts so you shouldn’t worry about your safety at park. There used to be a large part of the garden that was free to walk around. However last time I visited I noticed they have enclosed the area and it’s included with the conservatory cost. I’m not a fan of this change.

  • I'm not a huge "plant person," but I find this to be a favorite destination in Columbus. It's peaceful, tranquil, and beautiful. Although we enjoy the standard exhibits, our favorite part is the new children's section. There is no detail unturned. Every station is curated to be magical and engaging. Even for an adult, it seems like a new world.

  • This is one our favorite memberships in Columbus! The new children’s garden is AMAZING! My kids (4 & 2) could play their all day. The natural water play area is their favorite, along with the playhouse & endless opportunities to explore. It’s also so nice to have a beautiful place to explore when Ohio is cold & ugly. My kids love the little kids play place (with a little market, interactive light board, mini train & more.) They also love the butterfly garden, parrots & giant gold fish.

  • Large, well maintained gardens. The new Children's Garden was fantastic (our toddler had a blast)! The butterflies in the Pacific Tropical exhibit were lovely and they have three releases per day. I would visit again without a doubt.

  • I'm from Indiana and I've been to this Conservatory twice and each time, it's been a blast. The Chihuly pieces they have acquired are breathtaking and the small gallery off of the entrance contains breathtaking pieces as well. The plants are beautiful. I came during the Fall season and all of the pumpkins, mums, and gourds made me so happy--this is a gorgeous facility and well worth the price for an entire day/afternoon trip.
