The Amaliehaven park, currently a part of Frederiksgade axis, was a gift to the city from A.P Møller (a famous name in the shipping industry) and the Chastine McKinney Møller Foundation. The park was established in 1981 and was opened in 1983.
Before the park was created, the area was a shipyard and also had a warehouse and wharf in close proximity to the royal residence. The park is located close to the waterfront and takes you to the harbour with a short walk.
For nature lovers, the park offers an oasis with beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees that make way for neat geometrically laid pathways adorned by a central fountain. The four columns placed on the corners of the central fountain, makes for a unique place to click pictures while the neatly maintained park grounds are ideal for a pampering walk on sunny afternoons. The view of the Marble Church and the Amaliehaven Palace, adds to the walk and is a highlight in itself.
