Bordered by the gorgeous Kastellet fort (dating back to 17th century) and the scenic Esplanaden, Churchillparken was created in the 1960 and was named after Winston Churchill. Initially the park was a green space that was a part of Esplanaden but after 1880’s the St. Alban's English Church was established here and soon the park found its own boundaries. Post World War II, the Museum of Danish Renaissance was established along with a number of war memorials that still stand tall amidst the lush gardens.
- Valkyrie (1908) Sculpture created by Stephan Sinding that depicts the Norse goddess
- ‘Our Fallen’ Monument by Sven Lindhard
- The Bust of Winston Churchill designed by Oscar Nemon
Today, the Churchill Park is loved for its neatly maintained greens that make way for beautiful buildings and monuments that celebrate the city’s history. If you are a nature-lover and admire art and tranquillity, the park promises a relaxing time for sure.
