Kronborg Castle - Review
This is the place where Shakespeare based his Hamlet. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built as a fortress in the 15th century that went through multiple rebuildings and expansions. Today, there is much to see here. The grounds are excellent for just strolling around. You’ll get to se the any displays inside the castle, but also go through the underground siege areas. The tour guides here are amazing, full of dramatic flair and deep insight into the place’s history. Bewarned, there is a lot of alking to do here.

Kronborg Castle, Copenhagen Reviews
Well worth the train trip from Copenhagen to visit Kronborg Castle. Great self-guided information and tours within the castle and surrounding grounds. This is a low-key place where visitors are free to explore the publicly accessible areas, and the staff is informative and helpful. This castle was the setting of Hamlet, Shakespeare's masterpiece of tragedy and intrigue, loosely informed by the rule of King Frederick II of Denmark, who in actuality lived a happier life. Terrific views of Sweden and the surrounding area from the top of the tower, accessible up a spiral staircase of 145 steps.
Amazing castle, worth a tour! Go on a sunny day with good visibility, to have an amazing view of town and the straight towards Sweden. Before you go, brush up on your knowledge of Hamlet, a story that played here. Unless you are claustrophobic, visit the catacombs and say hello to the bats (or else, buy a plush bat in the gift store). Make sure you climb the tower for the 360 views! The guided tours by the folks in period outfits are hilarious, so if you don't want to join a big group, at least sneak nearby and catch a few of the stories...
I loved this experience! I thought the Castle was Beautiful! And what makes it really unique is that it has, not one, not two, but THREE moats. This is also the castle where William Shakespeare’s Hamlet is set so they do a production of Hamlet live where you can explore the castle and see different scenes of the story Hamlet! You can see the dungeons and go up the Towers and explore around the castle. It is a great experience!
Beautiful castle--if you go in the summers, they often do Hamlet live. Apart from being the fictional "Hamlet's Castle," Kronborg also has a rich history as part of the Danish monarchy. Gorgeous, sweeping ocean views, too. Another perk--completely walkable from the train station, as well as the town center, so you can make a day trip of it from Copenhagen, and round out your experience with a lovely lunch in a cafe.
Beautiful castle and surrounding area. Easy to take the train from Copenhagen and 10 minute walk to the castle. There is a lot to see both inside and outside the castle. We thought the interactive Hamlet was going to be cheesy, but we saw several pieces and it was really good. Perfect to engage children in the story. We packed a lunch with us, but there were places around to eat too. Head to the warehouse with street food vendors.
