Located a stone’s throw away from Storget street, the St. Nicholas Church currently accommodates the Nikolaj Contemporary Art Center. The 90-meter tall spire of the building can be spotted even from a distance and is famous for its Neo-Baroque design. The view from the tower is another highlight of the place. Throughout its history, the church has served many purposes and was formerly a naval museum and a library. When sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen returned to Copenhagen in the 1830’s, a flag was hoisted at this tower to welcome him and the place even hosted the famous Fluxus event in the 1960’s.For art lovers, the exhibition of the Nikolaj Contemporary Art Centre promise a refreshing collection while the architecture of the place itself, is a highlight on its own.

Really cool exhibits in an old church building. Check out what the exhibit is before you go - you also get free entry to the other museum it's a part of
The contemporary art museum is very beautiful and it contains very original drawings. A must-to-see when you are visiting Copenhagen.
interesting but I was waiting something different or more complete, that day were 2 expositions. it's free on Wednesday
The toured guide of the Tower as an interesting experience. Sadly except from the clockwork and the view it wasn't so interesting. The current exhibition had a good theme but I didn't like the execution of it.
Friendly staff, interesting exhibition, students get a discount and one can visit the Thorvaldsen exhibition nearby for free with the same ticket.
