St Nicholas Church - Review

Located a stone’s throw away from Storget street, the St. Nicholas Church currently accommodates the Nikolaj Contemporary Art Center. The 90-meter tall spire of the building can be spotted even from a distance and is famous for its Neo-Baroque design. The view from the tower is another highlight of the place. Throughout its history, the church has served many purposes and was formerly a naval museum and a library. When sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen returned to Copenhagen in the 1830’s, a flag was hoisted at this tower to welcome him and the place even hosted the famous Fluxus event in the 1960’s.For art lovers, the exhibition of the Nikolaj Contemporary Art Centre promise a refreshing collection while the architecture of the place itself, is a highlight on its own.

  • The toured guide of the Tower as an interesting experience. Sadly except from the clockwork and the view it wasn't so interesting. The current exhibition had a good theme but I didn't like the execution of it.

  • Don’t even think to visit this place... or get heigh enough in order to understand what author wats to say)

  • This was one of the craziest places I’ve ever been to. Probably the craziest museum I’ve ever seen. The exhibits are in low quantity, but they’re very unique and inspired. I went on Wednesday when ticket prices are free, and I’m very glad I stopped by. Even if it doesn’t speak to me, I always enjoy seeing the incredible creativity that artists can deliver, and this place is as creative as it gets. If you’ve got the time, especially on a Wednesday, drop by.

  • An interesting building, and easy to see that some exhibitions there would be amazing. Unfortunately, the one I saw was not.

  • A fantastic venue! Do look up what's on before you visit, contemporary art is contemporary art. Free entry to all exhibitions on Wednesday (at least, when I visited in March)
