The intricate machinations of the Christiansborg Castle incorporated an open air riding ground encompassed by edifices holding an indoor riding school and in addition stables with space for what added up to 87 riding stallions and 165 carriage steeds.

Part of these stable structures still remains unaltered since their inauguration in 1746 with an unrestrained design of marble pillars. The historical centre has three divisions namely, The Harness Room with old outfits of the Royal Stables and the marvellously beautified eight-stallion tackle with an abundance of stunning portions; the genuine Stables with the Royal Family's carriage and saddle steeds, and at last the Coach Hall with old overall protected state mentors and carriages.

These stables housed and bred some of the finest horses in the world and till this day people can see a lot of royal horses in the stables. These stables are a part of the Palace complex and hence people can take a combined tour of the area.

  • Due to the limited duration for which the stables are open, it can be a bit difficult to organize the tour in such a way that one can accommodate a visit to the stables.

  • Christianshavn station

  • Restaurant Schoennemann – Danish Il Gallo Nero – Italian

  • We were staying in Copenhagen for a week, and we spent an afternoon here. I found the history and all the pageantry fascinating. The facilities, the animals, and the coaches and gear are all on display. The stables and the animals were the highlight for me. It is easy to get to in the heart of Copenhagen, via public or tourist transport. When we were there (Aug 2018) there was quite a bit of construction in the area (not the stables themselves) so that made navigation a little harder. Good visit for kids or adults. Accessibility is decent, although there are a lot of uneven surfaces, so if you have wheels or limited mobility bring a friend along. This was one of my highlights in the city, and I would recommend it.

  • If you have kids specially girls, it is really nice to see the carriage. Like a princes movie

  • Very beautiful to see. Sometimes you can see a horse here.

  • Nice exhibit of the importance of horses for the kings and queens of Denmark.

  • beautiful white horses were trained outside by riders as well as in front of carriages on thursday morning.
