Visit Carlsberg, Copenhagen Reviews
Underwhelmed with the self guided tour, very little to actually see and felt very much museum like as opposed to a brewery experience. If you want a proper brewery experience I would advise that you to head over to the Heineken experience in Amsterdam, which was fab. It had a 4D section as well as a proper guided beer tasting. It may be that I was underwhelmed with Carlsberg because I was expecting something similar to that of Heineken, so perhaps if this is the first brewery you visit then you'll have a perfectly good time. The shop is nice though and at the end there is a little courtyard to sit in and drink, which on a sunny day would be lovely. Overall, it was fine, but I'm not sure why people are raving about it as a tourist activity. It's fine to kill some time if you have a free day, but I wouldn't go out of your way to see it if you have to do a toss up between seeing this and something else. We fitted it in to a day visiting the zoo and the cisterns as well.
IF you have a student ID, bring it. The prices are now higher and ONLY ONE drink ticket is included. The beer up in the pub is limited, but delicious. DO try the hot dogs and other grill food if you can. Large and delicious orders for the hungry masses. Recommend the guided beer tasting, if you have time and $. The museum has not changed in many years, but the store is brand new.
Very interesting place, it’s a self guided tour and if you have a Copenhagen Card entry is free. The tour/museum flows nicely round the place and takes about an hour depending how you pace yourself through it. They have a courtyard where you can get food and drinks. Other end of the court yard has a stables with horse in which are used for events and promotions nowadays. The shop has lots of different drinks that the brewery produces and various Carlsberg branded gifts.
I had an excellent experience at the Carlsberg Factory! There was lots to do at the Factory and fill the time. The tour was very interesting and had one of the world's largest beer bottle collections! After you are finished the tour you can visit the stable and get a free horse and carriage ride which I felt was very enjoyable although some tourists can be very rude about getting the ride, on from 12:00-14:00 so better to go about 12:30 to avoid rude customers. When I was visiting the staff also had a free sampling session in the store (although I'm not sure this happens all the time) which was great as I sampled many free beers I had never tasted before. Afterwards there is a free half pint of beer which really goes down well in the weather!! There is also a free shuttle bus to and from the factory every hour from 11:00 which greatly helped. Overall I really enjoyed my experience and I would recommend it to anyone!!
The guide for the historical tour was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of details on the family and brewery. I highly recommend the beer tasting. Nice grounds, great burger for lunch.
