Alcazar De Los Reyes Cristianos, Cordoba Reviews - Write a Review
A must see. The building is not elaborate, but historically significant as the place where King Fernando and Queen Isabella decided to fund Columbus's search for ocean routes, which ultimately resulted in the discovery of America. Be sure to see the room in which this was decided. Downstairs at the far end of the upper small courtyard gardens, don't miss the Royal Baths. If you take the stairs up to the tower from the walls, you will be rewarded with a great garden view as well as one into the riding school next door. Then, visit the exquisite garden complex, truly the best part of this facility. You will want to linger here. Closed Mondays. Tue-Sun opens at 8:30. Lines are not bad in September. Closes early in the hot summer. Signage only in Spanish, and limited, sadly. Toilets available in the gardens near the big open dirt yard.
Stunning Moorish gardens sit beside this fortress building and it's these that are the main attraction. Beautifully ornate and structured gardens in the islamic style sweep away from you as you enter the complex. Framed by columnar cypresses and soaring palm trees, there is a feeling of exotica throughout the garden site. Structure and shade are provided by serried ranks of orange trees and water plays gently into large rectangular pools. This is a magical place and stands up well against the more famous Alhambra in Granada.
Great to explore. Gardens are lovely 4,50 euro for adults. Half for students. Lovely place. Not much for furnishings but you can see the building on your own.
Nice 4 star hotel, close to the center but in a quiet street. Good price deal via internet. The small pool is a real bless on hot days. The only disappointment was the breakfast, which wasn't not really 4 star level
It's magnificent. The gardens the intricate carving. Really can't say you have seen Seville if you miss this. Here is a picture of the plaza d'espagne
