Blackrock Castle Observatory - Review
The Blackrock Castle is a 16th century castle. Known for its authentic Irish stone buildings, the castle was originally built on Queen Elizabeth’s orders after the locals requested her for a fort to protect the city from Pirates.
Today the fort has an Observatory on its highest round tower and is known to host some of the most interesting events and workshops for children. The fort is also used as a base for getting adults and children more interested in science. Blackrock Castle houses Ireland's first interactive astronomy center developed by the award-winning multimedia company Martello Media.
A must visit if you are visiting with your kids!

Blackrock Castle Observatory, Cork Reviews
BlackRock castle may not be what you are looking for if you want to visit a castle, since it's actually an observatory. It's located just outside Cork' city centre, and you can reach it easily by taking the bus #22 from the bus station. The observatory is very interesting and also interactive, so it's suitable for everyone. The guide we had is a nice guy who knows a lot about the castle history and astronomy. I personally suggest you this place if you are interested about these topics and you want to visit something different!
The observatory is small but have interesting information and exhibition on astronomy. Kids will enjoy it as its interactive like to send messages to space. Its great view from the top of the castle. Recommendation would be go in the evening to see sunset.
Fantastic, both tours are so interesting and so different. It's great to see such a fabulous building being put to such good use and open to the public. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. A must visit
We arrived by bicycle from city center (6 km). The landscape around us was superb. We ate an ice-cream in the bar near the Castle. And then enjoyed the sun in the park near the castle. Good place to spent some time. We didn't enter in the castle because it was closed.
Beautiful Views of Cork and River Lee. Lovely place to come for with Family. Nice Restaurant here. And a Bar. I see it popular for Wedding Photos. Bring a Camera with you here. Great for kids interest in the Stars and Planets.
