Before yesterday's tour of the Ring of Kerry, I'd probably been on one group tour in my life and decided it was not for me. But I needed to get to Killarney and thought I might as well see something along the way. Your driver Kevin O'Sullivan reconciled me with the concept of a guided tour. He told detailed, historically relevant and riveting tales and stories and kindly adapted the route to suit us since we were a small group, not to mention going out of his way to keep us dry! Please pass along our gratitude to him...
Disappointing. Only available in English no other language. It did not pass by St Finbarrs cathedral. The Jail cross entrance to UCC is closed off for building, despite being assured by the bus driver we could gain access from there. The bus stops are remotely positioned... there is neither a shop or cafe near some of the stops. I Did however enjoy the visits to Shandon Bells and Cork City Gaol. We seem to have a bit of work to put in to compare with European city bus tours.
Possibly the best way to see Cork. The tour loops around the center once before taking you to more exotic places. The stops come with prerecorded info texts, but if you're really lucky the bus drivers will add extra commentary about and in between stops. The ticket is valid for 2 consecutive days and you can hop on and off as often as you like. Not only great for sightseeing. It really helped me get a better idea of Cork as a city as well.
Good way to see the city, the fact that its a two day hop on hop off ticket makes it great value for money. The pre recorded commentary is good as well.
The best way to see Cork if time or money is short. But also a good introduction to the City for any visitor, to note places to return to later. Big, open topped, double decker with commentary. Good tour of about 80 minutes round the City. You can get off and on as often as you like; and as it goes to most City locations, this would be a day's transport for you for 15 Euro.
