Ferry Landing Marketplace, Coronado Reviews - Write a Review
On a bike ride to the Old Ferry Landing, we encountered an artists' market. There were paintings, photographs mounted in frames for sale, and other art like lamps, face painting, sculptures were also being sold. A lot of the motifs were of San Diego sights, like the beaches and downtown skyline, plus other landscapes. Many pieces cost in the hundreds, and some were a few thousand. The next time the market comes around, we may buy something !
Lots of free parking. Choice of shops and restaurants to visit. Small beach and great views of San Diego. Good ferry trip across which costs $4.50 pp and there is a machine to buy tickets. Although I did see people buying tickets on the ferry. There are two ferries. One runs to Broadway landing next to the USS Medway and the other to 5th Ave/Convention Centre.
This is one of my favorite San Diego gems that many people miss. You can take a water taxi over to Coronado from downtown or drive over the gorgeous Coronado bridge to get there. Only a few short minutes from downtown but it gives you the feeling you're on an out of town trip. There are numerous things to do including kayaking along the shore, eating at the great restaurants, strolling along the waterfront or checking out the boutiques. My number one place to eat is Peohe's deck for happy hour watching the sunset. Wow! On weekends the Ferry Landing hosts special events with art and music. You can bring a chair and picnic while you listen to music. Insider tip: I've found this to be the best place to watch the Red Blue Air Races and 4th of July Fireworks.
The food was excellent. They offer a very good mix of menu options. We had their barbeque ribs and chicken dinner with which we ordered mac and cheese, coleslaw, curly fries, baked beans, and jalapeno poppers. It was delicious! They provide outdoor seating which allows for a nice view of the bay. I will definitely return again. Highly recommended.
Loved renting a "bike" that seated our 4 women, and 3 kids all together. Pedaling around the bay was absolutely perfect! And crowns at Burger King added to the fun!
