Newport Creamery is a chain of restaurants in Southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The company is based in Middletown, Rhode Island. The restaurant was founded in 1940 when a local dairy owner named Samuel Rector founded a small restaurant in Middletown, Rhode Island. In the 1950s and 1960s, the restaurant was franchised and 33 restaurants were opened during the succeeding decades. Rector's family sold the restaurant in the late 1990s. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2000, with all but 12 stores closing. The company was bought by The Jan Companies, a local Burger King franchisee, in late 2001. Joe Rogan worked at a Newport Creamery in his youth.

Newport Creamery, Cranston Reviews - Write a Review

  • Good ice cream but the service is slow

  • Good food but it is absolutely too cold you need a winter coat in the summer. I was freezing and heard many other people complaining. You just want to eat fast and leave to warm up

  • Kids love it for ice cream nice location big parking lot ok lunch

  • Went for ice cream with my daughters and couldn't seat outside because of the rain, ask the cashier if we can sit down inside and she said yes, the place was almost empty, we sat and some guy just told us "next time if you sit here you have to be serve" with a fake smile. Not coming back for sure!

  • Unclean... Very Dirty menus... Old coleslaw... Used to be good years ago... Not great now... Too bad! Probably fine ice cream.
