  • One of the must visit places on Crete. We were there late in the season on a slightly cloudy day. Nonetheless the beach was beautiful and showed it's pinkish sand for which it's famous albeit not in abundance. (Have to look carefully at some of my pics :) ) It's a great, mainly sandy beach with few rocks in sight. This was a nice change to a lot of the other beaches in Crete, being often rocky. The water was still warm, even end of October. You can at least walk in 15 to 20 meters with the water not coming much high than waste level. The first 5 to 10 meters in, hardly coming above my knees. It makes it an excellent beach for bringing younger and or less experienced swimmers as well. It's a bit out of the way, took us a 2.5 hr drive but it was worth it. The road leading to it from Chania passes through beautiful mountain terrain so it's definitely not time lost. You might want to bring some food and drinks as there's just one restaurant we spotted. (might be due to low season)

  • Lovely beach, couple of draw back, car park well if you can call it a car park, big big pot holes and loose stones so watch when you drive there. Toilet you have to pay 1euro. Good for a day trip.

  • The beach is so stunning! I love the water and the lagoons. The water is shallow for a very long time which makes it perfect for relaxing. I recommend coming early as the beach is very popular. Also, the sand is pink, but barely. This is truely one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

  • Easily the best sand beach I've been to in Crete, lots of variations and shallows and also rock formations to snorkel around, not just a straight beach. Sheltered too so the sea is calm, and perfect for kids to learn to snorkel and swim because the depth varies a lot but even very far out it is often quite shallow and safe. Enough parking space and showers and toilets (50c charge). If you like sand beaches this is about as good as it gets.

  • Lovely, big beach, with beautiful clear water. Good for snorkelling. We were here in October and it wasn't too crowdy and the weather was amazing! :) definitely place worth visiting!
