A small walk to the Nevis gorge and you have a sea of wildflowers, a luscious view of the mountains, rocky pathways that seem almost untouched and views of the river Nevis welcoming you to explore the trail that leads up to the Steall Waterfall- the second highest waterfall in Scotland that stands at a height of 390 feet. The entire area of the falls is part of the wildlife protected area.
A meadow opens onto the waterfall which is beautiful all year round but is at its best during rainy season. The meadows and mountains are cattle grazing grounds and even though the terrain can get tricky, it is one of the easiest ways to explore a part of the majestic Ben Nevis. You can see the falls from a distance but visitors love to see the waterfall up close by crossing the wire bridge that makes you across the river. The lower falls are just as stunning and perfect for a picnic if you don’t want to hike to the top of the waterfall.
