Situated in the westmost part of the Ecuadorian Andes, Quilotoa is a caldera filled with water. This caldera was formed as a result of a volcanic collapse about 800 years ago. The total width is around 2 kilometers, and the highest elevation 3,914 meters. The lake is a vivid green color and adds to the charm of the scenery. The hike to the place is pretty challenging, but the surrounding views are totally worth the effort. Make sure that you carry warm clothes, as it gets quite cold during evenings.
