Curacao Overview

Part of the Dutch Caribbean Islands that come under the watchful eye of the Netherlands, Curacao is situated in the Caribbean Islands. They form the group of ABC Islands along with Aruba and Bonaire and are one of the most beautiful islands to see in the world. It is the most famous for its beaches that are further accentuated by the presence of coves. Apart from that, it’s also filled with extremely rich marine life and the coral reefs here are a sight to behold!

Visa Procedure

The countries that are exempted from requiring a visa for Curacao as far as there is a passport and a return ticket are Australia, USA, Canada, The EU countries and United Kingdom. The aforementioned countries do not require a visa for a stay of up to 90 days in the Caribbean Netherlands. Rest of the countries need to contact the nearest Dutch Embassy in order to obtain a visa. The passport also needs to be valid for 6 months from the scheduled date of departure from Curacao.

When to go

Even though the conditions are great all year round, but the best time to visit Curacao is during the months of February- April. You will get the best season for all the activities here and the best deals on air fares during the month of March but make sure you book well in advance to avoid paying extra. It is also great to include Aruba and Bonaire in your itinerary to enjoy the ABC Islands completely.

Destinations to cover

There are plenty of sights that are going to blow your mind in Curacao. There are also plenty of things to do in Curacao. You should definitely go scuba diving and snorkelling as the waters here are warm and nice. The Cas Aboa Beach and Playa Porto Marie make for the quintessential Caribbean Islands experience. Also remember to visit Willemstad if you want to take a break from too much water all around you and also when the sun and sand are no more a combination you want to settle down for.

Get in and around

There are flights from most of the major European countries to Curacao or even the Dutch Caribbean Islands in general. If you are thinking of how to reach Curacao, then the best option is to book a flight well in advance. Another way to get in is through ferries but there are no official ferry services as such. You can get around on foot, by car and by boat to go to the other near-by islands.

Hotels and Food

There are hardly any accommodations available in the budget range. As the Caribbean Islands are entirely a tourist spot, the accommodation during the high season is quite expensive. Food is available in plenty for the non vegetarians, the vegan options are limited. Also, make sure to try out the sea food dishes here to make the best out of your Curacao experience.
