Built as a residential castle by Bernabò Visconti, the Visconteo Castle is the gem of Cusago. It was built in the 14th century. This castle was quickly converted into a hunting lodge, owing to the dense woods surrounding it. In the later years, Filippo Maria Visconti made changes and upgraded the structure. The next owner of the castle was Ludovico il Moro who was equally attached to the castle as his predecessor. Over the years however, it came to be abandoned, until recently, when it was turned into a tourist attraction. The castle boasts of the different eras and owners through the variety of architectural designs that can be seen here. There is also a secret tunnel below the building, which is rumored to connect the castle directly to Milan.
