Sacsayhuaman, Cusco Reviews
Wow 70 sols to see some big rocks that look alot bigger in pictures than in real life. I was not overly impressed with the size of the ruins it's just way too expensive for what it is.. You can have the view from top for free if you walk on the other side as for the ruins it's just a major tourist trap
Extensive ruins with enough intact walls to be very impressed. The triple zigzag walls are the teeth of the puma's head (Saqsaywaman is the in the shape of a puma's head). Beautiful views
Huge rock blocks and giant walls of one of the most iconic Inca strongholds. Hire a guide, available at the entrance. In therms of building technology, perhaps the South American equivalent of Egyptian pyramids. After visit, think that only 20% of the ancient Inca fortress is, today, conserved on this site. Spanish conquerors dismantled 80% of it and used the stones to build other buildings in Cusco and surroundings.Unfortunately, another evidence, how conquering civilizations are sometimes more barbaric than the conquered ones...
Excellent archaeological site. The stonework here is 2nd to none, the views over Cusco are excellent, and if you're lucky you'll be able to mingle with some Alpacas. Worth the trip!
Saqsaywaman - Sounds like "Sexy-woman" and it is indeed...there is a flat space available between the rocks...it gives a feeling of a football stadium...for my surprise got to know that in the past a local football team conducted practice sessions for the players to acclimatize with high altitude low oxygen condition...but now it is strictly open for tourism...
