  • I will never go back to this place and I am making sure everyone I know is aware of the treatment we received. After a day of riding through the canyons, in which it was about 90 degrees we stopped to get some lunch and cold beverages. We put our names in at the desk and were told we would be seated momentarily (we waited about 15 minutes). When our names were called we were told we would have to sit out on the patio as they were busy and those were the only seats available. As we walked through the restaurant to the patio there were clearly several open tables and an entire room that had available tables, when I mentioned the open tables inside where it was cool, the waitress said she didn't know anything about them and we proceeded to the patio. The waitress was polite and took our order, brought our drinks and then forgot about us for about 25 minutes. When she brought our food some items ordered were missing but she corrected it quickly. What was most upsetting for the entire hour and a half we were there, we were the only ones seated out on the patio. No other customers were brought to the patio (there were several that put their names in after we did) in fact the only person we saw out there was the waitress. It became clear we were singled out, if I had to guess I would say it was because we were on motorcycles. I"m not sure why we would be singled out because of that, we were clean, well dressed, wearing boots, jeans, and tank tops and bandanna's, nothing inappropriate or obscene, we are all in our 50's on vacation enjoying the scenery. When we got our bill the waitress disappeared again and at that point we ended up going inside to pay. Much to our disbelief the place was 3/4 empty and pretty much confirmed our suspicions. If you ride beware you may be singled out at this place. Will never waste my time or money there again.

  • The lodge rooms are just okay, skip the breakfast buffet as they don't put out anything fresh so your eggs will be cold and hard, the bacon will be nothing but crumbs. I asked for more bacon to be brought out and they did but it wasn't cooked so that wasn't helpful. The waffles at the waffle station are precooked and continually heated so by the time you get them they are warm but hard as a rock to eat.

  • A wonderful place to stay! Great bar and restaurant at the State Game Lodge. Use as home base for visits to Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Needles Highway.

  • Had lunch here as part of a tour bus. Had the buffet, the choices are a bit few compared to other buffets, but the roast beef was great. The dessert options were multiple and all of them were great. I enjoyed the desserts more than the buffet. The staff was good, a lot of foreigners, so communication took a little longer than normal, even though our server was australian.

  • Come and see us tomorrow and we'll tell you where the bison will be, said the park rangers. Well, we woke up the following morning to find the bison all over the hotel lawn. Amazing experience! Very comfortable rooms and good breakfast.
