72 metres tall, with a base 17 metres in diametre, the statue of the Lady Buddha is easily the most striking sight in the city. The magnificent monument is made of single slab of marble and rises over the Son Tra peninsula. And what's the point of building something that tall and not climbing it? Steps carved into the statue itself will take you up 17 floors, each floor representing the life of one of the 17 Buddhas. From the top, cast your gaze out to the sea, or take a selfie with the city of Danang in the background.

Surrounding the statue is the LinhUng Pagoda, the third such pagoda in the city. The beautiful chinese style buildings face an elegant three doored gate. For many people, the Pagoda is a worthier attraction than Mummy (as the locals calls the statue). Also observe the 18 arhat statues, each representing an emotion.

Now, the place is supposed to be tranquil, but with thousands of visitors everyday, traffic congestion is an unfortunate reality. Still, worth it.

  • With 67 meters height here stands one of the biggest Buddhas in Asia. It is absolutely astonishing. Not only the statue but also the garden is amazing. Everything is so neat. We were quite surprised. It is worth the visit.

  • The whole complex is quite large, and you can easily spend several hours here. There are a ton of buses taking tourists here daily, so expect it to be crowded. I'd recommend going by motorbike, as there are some nice views along the way and you can also drive up to the top of Son Tra mountain while you're in the area.

  • I can't recall ever visiting an attraction that had this many tourists jammed into the sightseeing areas. In many ways, it was quite impressive seeing so many tourists here taking it all in. To describe it, I guess it's a 'cool' experience. There are monkeys all around the area and the statue is gigantic. Possibly the best part about it, though, is that it is visible from the beach near the city. It's a great part of this amazing city.

  • This is a temple on the beach. Myke beach looks really good and is a good place to take pictures. However, when the weather is hot, there is not much shade so it can be a little hot.

  • A sprawling complex of temples, shrines, statues, gardens, pagodas for cremated ashes, etc. situated on the hillside. The impressive while Bodhisattva gazes serenely out over the DaNang bay. There was little info to understand the various buildings and statues so a good pre-read or if available, a local guide will make the visit more meaningful. Remember to respect by dressing modestly ( no short skirts/pants and covered shoulders).
