Located off the coast from Dakar in the Atlantic Ocean is a small island called the Goree Island. This island has an infamous history of being a part of the 15th- to 19th-century Atlantic slave trade. The island is completely car free and the only way to go about this island is to walk. Here you will see many beautiful narrow streets adorned with colonial style buildings. Also present here is the former House of Slaves which has now been turned into a museum.
