Saho is the prettiest village of Himachal Pradesh in the district of Chamba. It is located on the beautiful plateau area and is surrounded by groves on all sides. From here you can see a lovely shrine peeping out. When you go there you find the stunning Saho Shiva temple which is popularly known as the Chandrasekhara temple due to the fact that here Lord Shiva is worshipped in his moon manifestation.

Two huge Shiva statues guard the entrance and increase the grace and charm of this place. There is also a stone structure or ‘linga’ depicting Lord Shiva. The interesting part is that it is said that when you touch the throat portion of the deity here it makes a sound of a tinkling bell and nobody till now has been able to discover the reason behind this unnatural feature. There is also a stone carving of Lord Shiva’s bull, the Nandi infront of the entrance.

This temple is built in the Shikhara style of architecture. This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva has an idol of the prime deity in the form of a ‘linga’ which is 5 feet tall. There are also many natural springs behind this temple complex. These springs are said to have medicinal qualities in them.

This Saho village is famous solely because of this Saho Shiva temple. It is a tourist hotspot and also a base camp for many trekking groups.

• This place seems pleasant at anytime of the year but especially during the month of September as the whole village seems to be golden in colour due to the ripe wheat crops ready to be harvested.
