Japanese Temple - Review

Japanese Temple is one of the wonders of Darjeeling. It is a Buddhist temple and is called NIpponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple. It is located near the Peace Pagoda which is an emblem of peace and spirituality. Built in 1972, this temple is a symbol of peace and serenity. People tend to come to this place to find solace. It is a spiritually holy place for the Buddhists. Visitors have a lifetime experience when the prayers and chanting take place inside the temple. The prayers sound like hymns which have a chanting quality. The white architecture of the temple adds to the beauty of it. It was the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi that inspired Fuji Guru to create this symbol of peace.

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the Second World War had left the world bereft of hope and faith. The monastery was an attempt to instill peace after the grave tragedy. There are many hotels near the Japanese Temple which make it easier for the visitors to stay there for a long period of time. Disciples of Buddha come here from all around the world. This place is not so far from the main market. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Darjeeling itinerary 1 day.

  • Japanese temple in Darjeeling Sight seeing. Quite clean and serene view of mountains and city. Peaceful place. A bit uphill. Stairs are required to be used to reach Pagoda Apart from Japanese Temple Main attraction is Buddhist Pagoda. Buddha Statues are there in the Pagoda. Statue meditating Buddha is present in the Pagoda. Another statue of Sleeping Buddha is also there. One can also find various aasan. Park is also there to sit and enjoy the nature. Nice view point. Must visit.

  • This place is located in a secluded part of Darjeeling town. The road leading to it winds through a small forest that surrounds the temple complex. The forest makes the whole area quite peaceful and if you visit early morning it feels very calm and serene. The temple is Japanese - very simple and bare ("to the point"). The pagoda is nearby and it's big but very well-maintained - looks beautiful and grand. You have to climb a few steps to reach the dome itself and then you can walk around the base of the dome looking at the reliefs and frescos with scenes from Buddha's life. The garden around the pagoda is also well-maintained and beautiful.

  • Serene. Peaceful. Amazing calm. Lots of green cover around. This place was a beautiful and must go location. You should go there early in the morning like say 8 am or before to experience the calm. Nothing in specific to be done. Just go and sit there. Although I did one person doing yoga in the natural surroundings there. I am sure it must be so nice and healing to do yoga at such a place. Later in the day as tourists come and go there will be some noise and chatter. But there is not a lot to do so noisy people naturally move out fast. There are some very beautiful flowers around temple and you could also spend some time gazing at those.

  • merely a few minutes away from the heart of the town, this awesome temple is sorrounded by great view and even greater natural neighbors. trees are hundreds of years old. calm and cool as the rest of the Darjeeling.

  • Nice serene place. If you sit here for a long time, you definitely can feel a lot relaxed. When we visited, prayers were being recited and all tourists were invited to sit and join the prayer. A small drumming pad and a stick was placed on the mat which you can drum in the same rhythm. It felt very relaxing.
