Mahakal Mandir - Review

Although a part of the deal that comes with Observatory Hill, Mahakal Temple stands out even as a singular attraction. It is located on the hilltop and is a lovely change from the bustling chowrasta. In between Chowrasta (the mall), the hill rises and promises you some amazing sights of the surrounding ranges. The best part about this temple is that it caters to all the faiths that are present in Darjeeling. The architecture of this temple is really humble and simplistic in nature, but even so it is a beautiful sight to watch and a great place to witness the presence of God. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Darjeeling itinerary 1 day.

  • It's a temple of LORD SHIVA located in Mal, Darjeeling. You have to ride upwards thorugh the MAL FOOTPATH MARKET.... IT'S A PLACE WITH TOO MUCH TRANQUILITY. ONE CAN FIND TOO MUCH HAPPINESS THERE WHEN THE WHOLE VIEW OF THE CITY WILL BE WATCHED FROM THE TOP OF THE TEMPLE..... SO IT'S NOT ONLY A TEMPLE, ALSO A VIEW POINT. LOVE THIS PLACE TOO MUCH.....

  • An short stroll up a small hill. Provides good views. You have to leave the shoes on some shelves. Donation expected, but shoes aren't monitored. The sign above the unattended shoe shelves warn about monkeys who may steal shoes. Thanks for the warning, but what to do?

  • It was the best place to visit on Darjeeling.... It has many temples at one spot and it has a beautiful view and it's such a good place. It's a much visit place in Darjeeling. Everyone would love a visit to this place.

  • loved the Spirituality of this place. You have to walk along steep path for 3 minutes to reach the temple. And the temple is very big and wide spread

  • Entry: Free. Time: 1 hour. Mahakal Mandir should be your must visit list. The natural environment is very good, the spiritual people will definitely like it. Observatory Hill, Darjeeling, WB, India. Apart from the magnificent view it commands, great religious importance is attached to the Observatory Hill by both Hindus and Buddhists who worship here by the hundreds.  As the name suggests, this place on a hill top is one of the greatest spots in Darjeeling to observe the panoramic views of the mountains and it also has a Temple at the summit called the Mahakal Temple.  The Observatory Hill is located at the Mall area and is encircled at its bottom by the Mall Road. As you walk along the Mall road, Tourists will see this steep hill rising on one side.  However, it's not too high. It takes about 15 minutes of uphill walk to reach to the top.  As visitors take the Mall road from the right side of Chowrasta Mall, about 100 yards away they will find flights of stairs that lead towards the Observatory Hill and the Mahakal Temple.
