  • A place where one gets enlightened about India's journey into mountaineering. There is this museum where one can get an idea about the equipments mountaineers use. The Bengal Natural History museum is worth a visit having replica of wild animals etc. It has got a small zoo too where children will find delight. People can get photographed wearing local costumes taken on hire. Small eatery is there inside. The souvenir shop inside sells really good quality and effective winter clothes, jackets and gift items. There is a place inside where one can try his/her hand at rock climbing by paying a small fee. All in all a superb place to visit with your friends and family.

  • Gives the opportunity of seeing Himalayan fauna in clean and well maintained premise. Semi captive places for the animals. Hilly terrain of the land is dealt with gradual slopes and distances except few steep pockets. Each "captive" space is depicted with good basic information and image of the animal life. Kids can connect fast with the environment. the Zoo is also full of big trees making the experience even more richer. Please go with open mind by not comparing it with any other developed country Zoo. We appreciate this good Indian effort.

  • Such a lovely place. It was quiet and a rainy day but we enjoyed a lot. The animals and birds are well kept. You'll find some rare animals like Red Panda, Royal Bengal Tiger, various leopards and snakes. The washrooms were surprisingly clean. You'll have to take preparation for walking up and down.

  • An interesting place especially for kids. Look out for the big cats - Royal Bengal Tiger, Panther, Leopard and especially Snow Leopard. Also the Himalayan Bear, a variety of birds, monkeys and deer, significant among which is the Himalayan blue sheep or Bharal. But the most exciting and difficult to spot exhibit is the Red Panda. The zoo has been built at different levels to match the hilly terrain and is quite unique. Although I'm personally not fond of visiting a zoo, the prospect of seeing some rare animals took me there.

  • The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoo is most popularly known as the Darjeeling Zoo and it is a unique zoo in so many ways. The zoo is located just about a kilometre away from the Mall road and is quite big in comparison to the city it is in. The zoo won't show you many animals but it will show you those that are mainly mountainous. Like the Mountain Goats and the leopard. Those animals can live in the natural environment here ,this being a cold place. The entire place can be walked within an hour and you'll feel awesome with the hilly terrain zoo design.
