This is the No.1 place for kids, adults as well as for any age people. You will enjoy at peaks here. The way they have crafted each place is quite amazing. Hats off to their efforts. Bengal natural history museum, especially zoo are the biggest entertainers. Almost all the important animals ranging from tigers to birds, reptiles, insects, etc.can be found here extensively. Mountaineering institute is also a very nice and must watch place. Eating refreshments are also found here. Collection is entirely amazing and eyes worthy. I saw international travellers here. It is located mainly on the city edge. Please see all the pics.
Loved the Zoo. Though it is not one of the biggest zoos of India, it is good in its own way. The location is very nice. Roam about the Zoo on hilly roads by watching various creatures-beers, leotards, deer, Royal Bengal tiger and so on. The sign instructions are very useful to roam about the Zoo. Just follow the arrows and you'll complete your tour of the Zoo.
Just loved it!! It was one of the best zoos I have ever seen in India... The animal species were very rare and unique like Red Panda and Himalayan animals(I will post the pictures of those) There was also a museum of different mountaineers that was awesome. So, I liked very much the zoo and its campus.
Visiting a Zoo in the hills is a different experience.. Especially if the weather is great. We'll kept with easy to follow instructions for wayfinding, it's a great place to take kids. The Animals one gets to see are amazing to watch although caged up . The eating joints within the zoo are good. While the wash rooms are pretty clean for public toilets. Over all a great experience of visiting the Zoo.
Located at the height of 2000 feet's, it is the largest high altitude zoo in India. Just about 15 minutes from the Mall road, the zoo should be certainly in your list while visiting Darjeeling. It is the largest high altitude zoo in India. Please note it is closed on Thursday. It is open from 10 am to 5 pm everyday. Due to the hilly terrain, the animals cages are below and the visitors have to look down at the animals. The path is up and down while you pass every cage. Rare animals like the Red Panda, snow leopard and found here. One should take out at least 3 hours because of the HMI and museum located inside.
