Peace Pagoda is centrally located in Darjeeling. Spreading  the notion of World peace and harmony is the purpose for which it was built under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fujii, a Buddhist monk of Japan, who tried to promote the world unity. It required almost three years to finish it. It has a golden color statue of Gautama Buddha inside it.

It makes sense to visit it during prayer time as you will be able to take in the wonderful atmosphere. This is a once in a life time experience. The atmosphere of the pagoda is peaceful and enchanting. It is a serene place where one will be left spell bound. Another important feature of the pagoda is that. It is neat and clean and well maintained by the monks.

It has many sculptures on its walls which tell us the mythological stories. The entry gate of the pagoda is guarded by two lions' sculptures, a majestic golden in color. The name itself suggests the very purpose of its existence - to promote the world peace in a serene atmosphere. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Darjeeling itinerary 1 day.

  • Nice place for peace loving people.. U can spend some peaceful time here. Best place to visit with family and kids.. The view from the top is awesome.

  • Peaceful place... Went there during prayer... They encourage us to play drums along and sing the 1 liner during prayer... I loved the ambience.

  • This place is located in a secluded part of Darjeeling town. The road leading to it winds through a small forest that surrounds the temple complex. The forest makes the whole area quite peaceful and if you visit early morning it feels very calm and serene. The temple is Japanese - very simple and bare ("to the point"). The pagoda is nearby and it's big but very well-maintained - looks beautiful and grand. You have to climb a few steps to reach the dome itself and then you can walk around the base of the dome looking at the reliefs and frescos with scenes from Buddha's life. The garden around the pagoda is also well-maintained and beautiful.

  • Very nice budha temple. Definitely worth a visit during your visit to Darjeeling!

  • Lovely peaceful place. Nice well maintained premises too. Lovely views of kanchanjungha is also available from here. Nice flower garden is also all over the place. Well maintained structure too. It's worth a visit and suggested to come here by walking only to feel the surroundings.
