The Darjeeling Rangeet Valley Passenger Ropeway is a famous tourist attraction in Darjeeling. Consisting of strong cable cars, it lies between the North Point in Darjeeling and Singla, the Ramman River bank. This rope journey is quite amazing as it provides heavenly views of beautiful mountains and their peaks nearby. After it originated in 1968, the ropeway encountered many accidents as well. In 1988, four tourists died when the cable snapped off suddenly. It is under the Forest Development Department comprising of only a single cable.  

The ropeway goes over green forests, high mountains, waterfalls, flowing rivers, green valleys and of course the tea gardens. People from different parts of India throng to Darjeeling only to have an experience of the rope way and view Darjeeling from the top. The ropeway is almost 8 kilometers long in the distance and runs for about 10 to 20 kilometers per hour. Govt of West Bengal makes necessary steps and measures for its maintenance. Many hotels are located near the ropeway so that the tourists do not experience any problem. It has an elevation of about 7000 ft from the sea level allowing the spectators to have a large view of the adjacent areas.
