What is now a museum was previously a fully functional prison. Even today, you can see for yourself, the gallows where they hung convicts sentenced to death by hanging. Regarded as a historic landmark in the Northern Territory, many visitors have claimed that the museum could have been in a better shape. Being in operation for almost a century, as you walk through the cell blocks, each prison contains a story, one more chilling than the other if not the same. There’s a separate cell block from women, lepers, juveniles and refugees.

  • Well worth checking out. A bit creepy in areas but that only adds to the nostalgia of the visit.
