Dauphin Island Tourism

Dauphin Island, an island town in Mobile County, Alabama, United States, was incorporated in 1988. The town is part of the Mobile Metropolitan Area, and the total population was 1,700 (as of the 2020 census). The island was first documented in 1519 when notable Spanish explorer Alonso Alvarez de Pineda visited it. And over time, the area became popular due to tourism and fishing, which are popular activities around the island beaches. Dauphin Island has several notable attractions, such as the Audubon Bird Sanctuary, Fort Gaines, the Estuarium Public Aquarium, and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. The town also uses the Gordon Persons Bridge to connect the island to the mainland. As per the United States Census Bureau, the island covers an area of 6.3 square miles and experiences a humid subtropical climate. Regarding transportation, the place is well connected via roads, ferries, and the Dauphin Island Airport. Mobile County Public School System handles the education system within the town, which is highly hurricane-prone.
