This is a 100 year old mining site. Situated at the foot of a small mountain, this place is part of beautiful scenery. Here, an underground tour awaits you. So don a hard hat and walk the tunnels in search of gold, like they did in the days of Gold Rush. The tour is very informative. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. Thy will tell you how the prospectors or their workers used to burn the midnight oil in hope of some gold ore to take back home. The stories are interesting and the well maintained site will take you back in time. This visit is both educational and fun!

Broken Boot Gold Mine Reviews & Ratings
Tour was very interesting but the group was too big. Must have been at least 25-30 people. Guide had to keep repeating himself for everyone to hear. Due to the confined space, I feel the groups should be no more than 15-16 people max.
Wendy was a great guide!!! We all had a great time.
We really enjoyed our trip to the Broken Boot Gold Mine! We loved that it was cool inside the mine-60 F-so bring a sweatshirt if you prefer to stay warmer! Our kids are 10 and 5, and both enjoyed the 30 minute tour. Our tour guide Isabel was very knowledgeable and added good humor to the tour. Highly recommend if you are staying in the Black Hills!
The tour is 30 minutes or so. It was fun to see the inside of a mine. Lots of detail about the history of the mine and the miners who worked it. We did the panning at the end and that was a fun experience for the kids. All found flakes of gold which we got to put into little vials to take home at no extra charge. I would definitely recommend taking the hour or so to stop here!
We had a great time going through the mine and panning for gold. Our tour guide, Daniel, was funny and very knowledgeable. It can be challenging entertaining teenagers, but ours enjoyed the experience. It was also a very good value.
