First off, I don't like casinos. And I don't gamble. That said, wow, this place brings you back in time! It's beautiful! I would find it more beautiful without all the dinging and flashing lights and machines all over.. makes you wonder what it looked like back in the day! I could spend all day exploring these casinos just to see the woodworking and beauty of the buildings themselves! Amazing
Very Nice Casino. Their Food Is Excellent. I Had Prime Rib. Lovely Salad Bar And Service Was Excellent. Only Cost Me $1.09 Can't Beat That At All. Of Course I Left A Tip. AMEN
The atmosphere is a lot of fun and most of the staff are extremely friendly. There are a few members of staff that seemed to hate being at work, but they were by far the minority. Also had a chance to enjoy the crab legs and prime rib buffet which was absolutely spectacular. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and the breaded shrimp was a great addition. The crab was also exceptionally good.
Rooms are what you expect for a “historic landmark”. Doors don’t close tight, privacy is non existent and you’ll hear your neighbors. The staff is polite, although at the end of rally don’t expect much more. Everyone is over it. Drinks on the second floor veranda was nice. The late night bartender was accommodating and sent us with our night cap out onto the porch in front. Rooms were clean. They need new mattresses. Full size shower was nice. Door was rattled at 10:50 after I already called the desk to inform them I was coming down for the cart. She wanted to talk through the door anyway.. Breakfast is off at 11. Period, don’t straggle, pack your bike after if you’re running behind. No exceptions there. BUT up the street at Gold Country Inn they will serve you an awesome breakfast, eggs, bacon, coffee and a couple pancakes for under $12. Next year no matter what time I’m ready to leave, I’m doing that again. They did offer a vendor rate. Which helped this review and the morning manager was nice. I’ll stay again, just knowing that there’s no wiggle room on timing.
My friends and I went to just pass the time and have some fun at blackjack and this place was great for that, except there were very few blackjack tables; we only saw about 4 in the whole place. 3 card poker was the floor favorite. Nice place to experience the "classic" side of Deadwood gambling if you're into history. Had some nice and sociable dealers that made you laugh and keep everyone in good spirits (shout out to Ed!) Clean, open, and high quality is how I would describe the gambling floor here.
