The very first sundial and flower-clock of Debrecen, constructed in the memory of Calvin, on 500th anniversary of his birthday. It was unveiled on 10th of July- 40 days before the 40th Debrecen Flower Carnival.
The axel is carved in limestone and the clock-hands have metal arches referring to astral orbits. The end of the hand is decorated with wings of phoenix- a local symbol.
The site of the flower clock was once occupied with the house of Hungarian author, poet and creator of the Hungarian national anthem- Ferenc Kölcsey.
