Robber's Cave - Review

Robber’s Cave is a cave formation located a few kilometres away from the centre of Dehradun. It is locally known as Guchhupani. The interiors of the cave are so beautifully designed that it is hard to believe that is a naturally formed structure. It derives its name from the story that says that the robbers used this place as their hideout to escape from the British. The cave is a long, narrow structure and is divided into two portions. The cave boasts of the highest waterfall of the country. The central part of the cave is like a fort wall structure that is almost completely broken now, most probably due to the forces of water. It is an ideal picnic spot for all the tourists. The best feature is the surprising flow of the river. The river actually flows underground and cannot be seen, but once you go along a little more you will again spot the river flowing. The cave is guarded by hills all over as you walk a little more.

Robber's Cave, Dehradun Reviews

  • What else do you want a 25 rupees ticket to give you better than this sweet experience in a exciting knee deep water filled cave with springs of water down the mountain corners. It is indeed a lovely picnic spot. No worries for getting your foot-wears wet, you may rent some slippers there itself at the shops. Chinese chinese food shops, washrooms and little by the waters camel ride with the main attraction, Robber's Cave sums up to be a nice and enjoyable place. The way to here is simply clean and beautiful.

  • Robber's cave is a very good place to go.. Nature beauty at its best. There is one story that this place got the name Robber's cave because earlier robbers used to hide here after robbery. We went there in June and it was very crowded. If you want to take any pic of the cave then it's difficult due to the huge crowd. Overall it's a nice place to go. Click many pictures and enjoy. There is an entry fee of Rs 25 I guess for each individual. One can find snack counter inside as well as many road side stalls are there outside also. You can reach there by car, auto easily.

  • 5 stars for the caves with water...3 for the general amenities, and 0 when crowded. A wow experience in the caves with water flowing beneath! Wasn't aware of it until a friend recommended me and it was just an amazing experience. However, oneiat be mindful of the peak days and season. It can be very very disappointing when crowded (like long leaves, summers, etc), just because of the crowd. You will see people all around, dressed in ways you won't appreciate much. It looses its essence completely. Best time to be there on a weekday and during the off season, and believe me you will just love it. Their is way to proceed further where the cave seems to end due to water falling from the can try to be adventurous and explore further!!

  • Good place to enjoy with family n friends. No issues with parking. Water looks clean and you enjoy roaming in flowing water. Some rides also available for small kids to enjoy. Few options available for fast food but didn't like it much. Washrooms are phathetic.

  • I have been to robber's cave twice and I really loved the place. It is a tad secluded from the city and has got huge rocks, water flowing from a cave and a fall. It is an amazing place to hang out with your friends, family and loved ones. There are a lot of Maggie points and other eating joints. When there is less water, you may enjoy your Maggie while dipping your feet in the water as the chairs are set up in the shallow water only. If you are in Dehradun, it is a must place to visit.
