Delaplane Cellars, Delaplane Reviews
We visited here on the recommendation of a friend, and I’m glad we did. Wines were very good, but a little pricey (may be normal for northern VA? I’m used to central VA wines). I still took home a bottle. I like the fact that it’s 21+. Friendly staff, and it wasn’t terribly crowded. We would definitely return if we’re in the area again!
Great place with really good wine. I wish they would allow dogs and install electric car chargers. Tesla will give businesses free electric car chargers too if they would sign up.
For a vineyard in Virginia that amount of pretension was astounding. With a group of 9 we would have been spending a lot of time and money at this vineyard but we’re promptly turned away. The tasting room was not even overcrowded as it was a rainy day. To be honest I am happy we didn’t have to waste our time with these people and we are on to bigger and better things.
Most of the negative reviews seem to be centered around not allowing kids or big groups. Quality wise, I’d put this on the upper end of Virginia wines. Great views, friendly staff. I’ll be back.
If there were a negative amount of stars available, I would have selected one of them. I would love to call them pretentious but that would be kind. First, let me say going to Delaplane Cellars was the whole reason for our selection of that area. I had driven by for years- but was traveling through so no drinking for me. I suggested it to my friends so I feel as though it is my fault they had to deal with the experience we had there. We were a group of four who had hired a wine tour company to drive and arrange our day. Deleplane clearly is trying to cultivate a sophisticated atmosphere by not allowing groups of 6 or more. And yes they enforce this as we heard them tell a group of 8. (I hope they split into two groups of four) We learned nothing not printed on the tasting menu. Nothing about the winery. When I did ask I question it was answered as curtly as possible. Oh and the wines. The whites (all of them were terrible) and the reds - honestly the last two reds were my favorite of the day but extremely over priced. And not worth going back for.
