Most of the Bollywood movies portray the statue of Lord Hanuman whenever they depict Delhi. This idol faces south and makes up for one of the most photographed locations in the city. A part of Hanuman mandir, this idol holds a gada in his left hand and his right hand rests on his chest in veneration to the adjacent idols of Rama, Lakshmana and Sita. As for the temple, it is located at Baba Kharak Singh Marg in Connaught Place, New Delhi. It is considered to be one of the oldest Hanumana Temple in India, said to be built by Raja Jai Singh around 1724 AD. Devotees congregate at the temple in large numbers on Tuesday and Saturday. Inside the temple, the ceiling of the main hall has embossed artwork depicting the Ramayana, the great Hindu epic. Do look out for the shops outside for traditional objects and souvenirs.
