India Gate is a triumphal arch in the centre of Delhi which has become a very important representative of the city thanks to its location as well as political value. The Arch was built to commemorate the contribution of the Indian soldiers who had died in World War I as well as Afgan Wars. Later on the Amar Jawan Jyoti was also added to the premises in honor of those who had laid down their lives in the Indo- Pakistan wars. Since then, it has become a site that celebrates bravery in every shape and form.

The Rajpath is a long and clear stretch of road that leads up to the India Gate. The Annual Republic day parade passes through this prestigious terrain. To an Indian this place is a matter of pride and to any tourist the whole area has a lot of stories to tell about India and polity in India. The arch itself may not be of great beauty but it is symbolic of the history of India and in many ways it has become symbolic of India itself. The place looks exceptionally beautiful when lit up at night. During winters, people sit in the lawns surrounding India gate to enjoy the bright sun. On the contrary, India gate dazzles with lights and activity during the hot summer nights!

  • Awesome place to hangout with family and friends. It is a magnificently-built Modern Architecture commemorating the martyrs of World War 1 from India. Their names are inscribed on the walls of India Gate. The lawns around the India Gate are beautiful and separate section is built for children's play. And yes, one must not forget to eat Ice-cream from there.

  • A must visit. India's iconic land mark. The place is always crowded with locals and foreigners. Lot of food stalls and other vendors. And there is a long line of photographers if you want your photographs to be taken. Evenings are really nice. You can get some really good photos in the evening. The surrounding area is also awesome.

  • I have been visiting India Gate since my childhood days and have passed through there a Zillion times... It is as beautiful as it was 20-25 years ago but attracts a very large number of people. It is famous for the ice cream vendors at night during the summers however be ready to shell extra when you purchase ice creams from there as they charge a premium on top of the MRP.

  • This monument, a memorial to the fallen soldiers inspire awe. Best time to visit would be early morning or in the evening. Is usually crowded during weekends with a festive atmosphere. A walk along the Rajpath would also be advisable.

  • A landmark which is famous through out the nation ,must visit at least once . During summer it advised that you avoid this place, In winters you will find this place is full of crowds from different parts of the world. The area is neat and clean, The public amenities need to be improved around the India Gate govt should install mobile toilets like they have installed in Paris at important tourist junctions.
