Lakshmi Narayan Temple - Review

Commonly known as the Birla Temple, the Laxminarayan temple was built by G.D Birla and is one of the most revered temples in Delhi. The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Laxmi and her consort Vishnu who, when together are called Laxminarayan. An interesting story about this shrine is that it was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi on the strict condition that people of all castes and religions would always be allowed entry into the temple. This definitely makes it a temple that is worth a mention and worth a visit.

The temple is built in the traditional style and has 3 stories. The tallest of the three roofs is about 160 meters tall and the temple is spread over 7 acres making it an imposing structure. The whole place is adorned with intricate carvings that tell many tales from Hindu Mythology. Brightly colored in the day and elaborately lit at night, this temple is not just for the devotee but also for the culture seeker.

  • Gigantic Temple with numerous people visiting it every day for prayers.. Very spiritual place. Very nice and clean temple and a beautiful one too. Must go for all devotees. The is very divine place more spacious & very beautiful. It’s very neat & the devotees are better disciplined. The team behind temple administrations deserves a large appreciation for maintaining it.

  • As I had heard about the greatness, architecture, peace of this great temple, it fell short when I came here. It's really a greatest temple with full of peace, a great architecturing, neat and clean, fully pure and naturally air that's too all in this polluted city. Given the magnificence, beauty and security of here, it is forbidden to take a pay camera or mobile phone here. So you haven't capture your memorable time what spending you here. But I confirm that the memory of pleasure moment of here is Will go to your heart and mind.

  • A great temple and a park behind. Park has also many temples. Simply awesome place. You must go at least once, great picnic spot for kids too. You can't click photos inside the main temple but can click unlimited inside the park, can click temple itself from the park. It's around 1-2 hour visit. Phone and shoes will be deposited in shoe house before entering temple premise.

  • This is good place to visit, but you can not take mobile or any other camera along with you in this place. There is a park behind this temple, which is good and beautiful. Good place to visit with family and friends. Please don't visit in Summer season otherwise you are unable to enjoy this place.

  • Really wonderful temple. This attracts less crowd and has magnificent architecture. And yes, always attend the aarti as it is practised naturally without any electronic amplifiers.
