Situated in Teen Murti House, New Delhi, the Nehru Planetarium is known for extending science and technology to the children as well adults who visit it. Inaugurated by Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1984, this planetarium is built with a dome shaped sky screen. In order to make the children interested in the workings of science and astronomy, this -planetarium hosts a number of live and taped public shows on cosmic heritage, solar system, Halley’s Comet, transit of sun, earth, Venus, coral rekindling Venus and the voyages of discovery- which include the usage of telescopes from beginning till today. The central attraction is the display of the Carl Zeiss Space flight placed on a hydraulic lift along with showcasing the rocket which took Rakesh Sharma to space.
