Raj Ghat is the name given to the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, the great leader who is known as the father of the Nation in India. However, there are several memorials dedicated to other leaders also present in the same complex called as Raj Ghat.

Memorials of Rajiv Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi as well as others can be found here. The memorial to Rajiv Gandhi is perhaps the most interesting construction. The memorial of Mahatma Gandhi also marks the spot where he was cremated. Each of these people and the memorials are important to the political background of India and hence it is a site of tremendous solemnity. Right across the road from Gandhi’s memorial you will also find the Gandhi museum if you wish to know more about this great leader of India.

Raj Ghat Reviews & Ratings

  • My take on this place can be summarized in 4 points.... 1. It is one of the most important monuments of India because it is the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. 2. It has a historical value as well because of Mahatma Gandhi. 3. This place helps us in revisiting the contribution of our freedom fighters in our society. 4. It is one of the most important places you must see in Delhi.

  • Nice surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. You can see lush greenery all around. Well maintained as well. You can have snacks at canteen on the road opposite to main entrance. If you are visiting by metro, prefer Delhi Gate metro station.

  • A little bit of peace in the bustling intensity of Delhi. Simple garden to walk around (after you have been through airport style security and bag scans). Then, after taking off your shoes (you can leave them for free or pay a small fee for them to be looked after), you can go into the smaller central area to see the black marble platform marking the spot where Gandhi’s was cremated and the eternal flame...the garden has a number of Gandhi’s quotes dotted around it....

  • Peaceful atmosphere, lush greenery all around, Well maintained. You can have fresh juices n chats on the road opposite to main entrance. If you are visiting by metro, prefer Delhi Gate metro station.

  • This was one of the highlights of my visit to Delhi and I left this place deeply contented. I would suggest coming here in the mornings and evenings before the sun scorches the paths. Thought inspiring quotes line the magnificent memorial to one of our greatest leaders. The site is kept meticulously clean and beautiful flowers lighten the atmosphere. I would suggest removing your socks before walking on the wet grass path to avoid wet and uncomfortable socks.
